LUCANIA. Metapontion. Circa 290-280 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 23 mm, 7.65 g, 12 h). ΔI Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of grain ears, single pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Barley ear with leaf to left; above leaf, ornamented candelabrum; below leaf, ⊢A; to right, filleted thyrsos. HN Italy 1620. Johnston D3.9 (same dies). SNG ANS 508. Minor roughness and porosity, and an area of flatness on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
